136….That is the number of days until my baby girl leaves me forever! Okay, okay….maybe not forever but she will be gone M-F from 7:30 am until 3:00 pm enjoying her very own Kindergarten class. I worried A LOT the summer before Dalton started Kinder….worried how he would fit it, if he would make friends, if he would be on track with learning since he didn’t go to preschool, if kids would take advantage of his sweet, caring nature. I don’t have that same sense of worry for Addison. She is strong, smart, caring and very independent. She makes friends easily and fits in where ever she seems to go. The worrying this time around is more about what I will do with my time. Addie and I have been buddies since the day she was born. I’ve hardly spent any time away from her and I’m just not quite ready to give her up. Today, I realized I am in denial over next year. Addie and I were at Hobby Lobby browsing the Easter clearance. Naturally, I picked up a set of foam Easter crafts to use for a playdate with Addie and her friends next year. On the drive home, it hit me…..she won’t be around to do daytime playdates with friends anymore. So the set of 12 foam Easter crafts really needs to be a set of 24 Easter crafts so that maybe, just maybe her kinder teacher will let this overbearing mom come in and do a craft with her class.

Dalton for Mayor
Someone with the last name of Dalton is running for mayor in one of the nearby towns. We couldn’t pass up the chance to stop and snap a picture. Perhaps one day the sign with be for our Dalton?
Birthday Boy 5K
After several weeks of training, Dalton’s big day is finally here! We signed up to do the Chosen Kid’s 5K. We woke up early that morning, headed down to Schlitterbahn and prepared for the big event.
We both had a great time and have already signed up to do our second race in two weeks with the whole family!

In the Kitchen: Birthday Cupcakes
Addie and I haven’t been quite as diligent with our Thursday evening cooking sessions lately, but with Dalton’s birthday just around the corner, we knew we better get busy. This year Dalton is having a bowling party and requested sports themed cupcakes. Since cupcakes are pretty easy to whip up, we decided to take it up a notch with a “tie-dye” style batter.
Mixing the batter…
Mixing up the different colors…
Filling the cupcake tin…
Testing the batter…
Ready for the oven…
The finished product! These were fun and super easy to make.
Dalton’s favorite color is green, so we tried to make sure each one had a lot of green showing.

Future Marathoner?
Dalton decided he was ready to join me in one of my favorite hobbies….running! Once he said he was ready to run, I quickly got online and found the perfect 5K race for us to do together. It is sponsored by the same organization that hosts my favorite half marathon in the fall and it just so happens that it falls on his birthday this year! Our training got off to a rocky start. I don’t think he quite grasped how far three miles can be. However, he stuck with it and really started to love it by the end. This is our final training run of 3 miles prior to the 5K.
And we’re off…….
(Addison doesn’t seem to have been bitten by the running bug….YET!)
3 Miles later and still smiling!

Cousin Celebration
Tie-Dyed Eggs Anyone?
It just wouldn’t feel like Easter without dying a few hard boiled eggs around the Lacy Household. We’ve done it every year since Dalton was old enough to walk. But, truth be told….I don’t think we’ve ever actually hidden any of the eggs. Perhaps we can start that tradition next year…..that is if we remember!
