The school year has started, the sun is starting to set a little earlier each night and hopefully soon the temperatures will start to go down. With summer drawing to a close, we are trying to enjoy as many evenings outside as we can. I always look forward to fall, the cooler evenings, the start of the holiday season but I do miss being outside until late in the evening with plenty of sunshine to go around. At least the time change isn’t until November this year.

Pizza
The little ones took an early nap the other day, so Dalton and I took advantage of the time and made homemade pizza (at least as homemade as it gets from my kitchen anyway). He just loves any chance he gets to wear the apron Grandma made him for Christmas last year.
You can never have too much cheese!
The finished product. Yum!
And now for the taste test. This one was a winner.
Best Buds
Addie and her new friend are quickly becoming best buds. Where ever one is, the other is never far behind.
This picture may looked staged, but I promise you it is not. Addie went to sit on the stairs, so he just had to go join her. He has given her several hugs and kisses since staying with us. Maybe one day I’ll actually be fast enough to catch one on camera.
They do a great job tag teaming the cat together. What you can’t see from the picture is Addie waiting just around the corner to surprise the cat. Ms. Kitty take is like a champ though. I think she enjoys the attention from the babies more than from anyone else.
Building with blocks is always fun but so much better when shared with a friend.
I’m pretty sure Addie is looking over at him telling him all the cool kids sit in buckets……
…so of course he comes over to join her. Now to figure out how they can both fit in the bucket at once.
And here they are on Friday afternoon. All tuckered out from a busy week of play, but lounging together none the less. I’m pretty sure Addie is going to start missing him on the weekends.

Superman!!
Who thought a pair of pj’s could be so much fun? A friend recently passed down some Superman pj’s for Dalton. They are longed sleeved, but he really wanted to put them on tonight, so we let him. I noticed they had pieces of velcro on the shoulders which could only mean that at one time there must have been a cape. I dug through my scrap material box, found a piece of red fabric, some velcro and some safety pins to pin it all together until we can officially sew the velcro on the cape. Needless to say, Dalton thought it was pretty cool. Here is our little superhero in action.
Posing with his brand new cape.
Showing off his amazing strength with “The Plank”.
Attacking the dreaded raccoon.
He even has X-ray vision (or so our camera makes it seem). Of course Addie wasn’t far behind copying his every move.
I don’t know that I’ve seen a prouder little boy lately. He even asked if he could wear his pj’s with his cape for Halloween. I managed to talk him out of it though since I’ve made all but one of his Halloween costumes so far. He mentioned earlier this year he wanted to be an octopus for Halloween. I’m hoping that is still a winner when it comes time to make the costumes. Dalton as an octopus, Addie as a starfish…….oh the picture possibilities! :)
Addison’s New Friend
A friend of mine went back to teaching this year and has a son that is just six days younger than Addie. She didn’t feel great about having to put him in a large daycare and I had toyed with the idea of doing some in-home childcare, so we thought we could both have the best of both worlds if he stayed with us this school year. He started staying with us this past Wednesday and I don’t think I could have asked for a better baby. He is a very laid back, easy going little guy. Not to mention the fact that he is practically the exact same age as Addie. They don’t necessarily “play” together yet, but they are never to far away from one another.
They both love to ride on the cars. They both prefer the blue one and race for it when the other gets off.
Chasing the kitty up the stairs. She is such a good cat for the kids.
Reading books with Dalton. Dalton hasn’t quite made up his mind about our new friend coming over every day. He is great with the babies but did make the comment on Friday afternoon: “Mommy, I like it when we just have one baby here. It is much more peace and quiet.” I think he will enjoy the fact Addie has someone else to follow around and Dalton will get a little break from her every now and then.
I’m sure we will have lots of adventures to blog about in the upcoming months. Stay tuned….
Trip to Grandma’s House
A few weeks ago we made a trip back home to see family and ride in the Annual Biscuits and Gravy Ride. It was going to be my first official bike event with all the Lacy boys (Lance, Tyler and Blake). Unfortunately, Addie ended up sick and I didn’t get to ride but we still had a good time visiting family and friends.
