Mr. Mischievous

Today, while Addie was napping, I was trying to get some much needed ironing done.  She woke up and I only had a few pieces left to do, so I left her in her crib while I finished up.  It took a little longer than I had planned, so she was starting to get pretty fussy.  All of the sudden, I heard laughter coming over the monitor.  Being that she had just been fussing, I peeked around the corner to find out what was going on.

This is what I found:

P1010033 Oh, sure, you might be thinking: “What a sweet, nice, caring big brother,” like I was when I first saw this.  That is until I ran back to get the camera, thinking I hadn’t been spotted so I could capture this priceless moment.  When I returned, Dalton was sitting innocently on the rocker, no bubbles in sight.  So I thought, “Was I mistaken?  Did I not see bubbles just a few seconds ago?”  When I asked him, he assured me he had not been blowing bubbles.  Thinking that my child is pretty honest, I figured I must have imagined the bubbles.  I went to leave the room to finish up the ironing, when he ran to the door to rescue the OPEN bubble jar from behind the door.  Needless to say, I talked to him about telling the truth and then let him blow bubbles for a few more minutes to keep Addie entertained while I finished up in the other room.  Well, and then after that I need the picture to go along with the story.  I guess we’ve never really talked to him about blowing bubbles in the house and just figured it was always understood that it was an outside toy.  Only four and too smart for his own good!

Conserving Water

Like most of Texas, we are on water restrictions, so what better way to “water” the yard than letting the kids play with the hose a few minutes one evening.  Hand watering is allowed any time, so this counts right?

P1010019As you can tell by the fact Addie is soaked from head to toe, Dalton takes no mercy on her even though she is only 1 year old.

“Oh boy, Dalton put the hose down.  My turn!”

P1010022

Both kids had a blast taking turns spraying one another.  By some miracle, Mommy and Daddy managed to stay dry this time.

Oh the carefree days of childhood.  I’m enjoying getting to share them with Dalton and Addie while they last.

Water Baby

Dalton has always loved the water, so it is no surprise when he begs to go play in the sprinkler/pool/mud puddle every day.  Addie, however, has found a new love when it comes to playing in the water.  I shouldn’t be surprised though, bath time is one of her favorite times of the day.

Here are the kids enjoying some water fun at a friend’s house.

A pool all of her own.

P1010006

Hmmm, by the look on that face, I’m not so sure she is interested in sharing her little oasis.

P1010007

“If I don’t make eye contact, maybe she will go away.”

P1010009

Dalton loves this playscape.  The slide is almost twice as tall as the one we have in our backyard.

Dalton and his friend “drinking” from the sprinklers.

P1010013

“Hey Mom, I’m not so sure about this.”

P1010014

“Okay, so maybe it’s not so bad after all.”

Rub a dub dub, three boys in a pool, two trucks and a little sister (who thinks she is bigger than all of them).
