A Night Out

We recently meet up with some friends from church and headed down to the river to enjoy the lights.  We hopped on one of the boat tours, enjoyed great company and a lovely light tour.  The kids seemed to enjoy it, even though it was not quite dark out yet.

A sight to see!  A must if you are ever in the area around the holidays.

Addie’s (second) 1st Haircut

A few months ago, my mom actually gave Addie her first haircut.  However this past weekend, we were out running some errands and Dalton was in need of a trim, so we ran into Cool Cuts 4 Kids.  Since we were there, we decided to go ahead and have Addie’s hair trimmed as well.  She did great!  I’m sure getting to play in a cool little car and watch Elmo while getting her trim helped a lot too.

Our Little Star

Dalton performed in our church’s Christmas Program this past Sunday.  All the kids and adults did a fabulous job putting this together.  I was so excited to see Dalton march right up on stage and never give it a second thought.  I was always so shy as a child, someone would have probably had to drag me up there kicking and screaming.  Here he is playing the part of a star.

Company picnic

Blake’s bank had a company picnic a few MONTHS back and I apparently forgot to share those pictures as well.  Oops!  Anyway, I am making a vow right now to get back on track with this whole blog thing.  I guess taking on the extra kiddo during the week has preoccupied more of my time than I realize.

I have to say I was pretty impressed he made it all the way up this thing.  Not an easy task for one with short legs.

He must have gone down this thing 20 times.

Enjoying the pony rides!

NOT enjoying the pony rides!

Enjoying the bouncy castle.  And I must mention Blake does always seem to get the best angles of me in pictures.  He is officially off camera duty.

Needless to say, Blake is enjoying his new job at the bank.  They are a very family oriented workplace and the move seems to be a great fit for us.  We could not be more thrilled with where God has placed him, especially during this time of uncertainty in the economy.

Wow…how did I let that one slip by?

So I was going through the old posts on the blog and realized I never posted any of Dalton’s soccer game pictures.  Soccer season ended over a month ago and was a season of cancelled games and practices due to all the rain we received in the months of September and October.  The kids did not seem to mind though and still had a blast each time they did get to play.  Dalton was always right in the middle of the action and even kicked the ball a time or two.  He did manage to score one goal this season….we just won’t mention which team he scored for!

Here our some shots of our little man in action.

Patiently waiting for the most important thing of the game…..halftime snack!

Dalton enjoyed his first season of soccer and thinks he wants to try to do both soccer and T-Ball in the spring.  Blake and I figure we might as well spend our days chasing our tails trying to get him to one practice or another while Addie is too young to pick up her own hobbies.  Once she starts though, he is definitely going to have to pick a favorite…or learn how to drive himself.

Visiting Santa

We went to have Breakfast with Santa last weekend to pick out our annual Angel Tree ornaments.  On the way to see Santa, I was reminded what an unselfish little boy we have.  I was asking him what he was going to ask Santa for this Christmas and he couldn’t think of a single thing.  After a few minutes of prodding, he finally came up with a pirate ship.  Once we got to church, he went to sit on Santa’s lap, told him about the pirate ship and then we selected an ornament off the tree of a four year old little boy.  Later that evening, we went to the store so Dalton could pick out a present for the little boy we adopted for Christmas.  He, of course, settled on getting him a pirate ship even though he knew that the gift wasn’t for him, but for a little boy that we would probably never meet.  There were no fits, no tears, no nothing the next morning when we took the wrapped gift up to church to place under the tree that Santa would visit again so he could deliver the gift to all the Angel Tree kids.  I hope that he always has such a kind and giving spirit.

Here is a picture of Dalton with Santa.  Addie is not in the picture because we were only able to get one picture with her in it and I wouldn’t want to spoil the Christmas card surprise that should be appearing in your mailbox in the next few days.  :)

An evening under the stars!

A few weeks ago, my best friend of more than 13 years and adopted “Aunt Jess” to Dalton and Addie came to visit.  She recently purchased an amazing telescope to help rekindle her love for the stars she had as a child.  She brought the telescope to our house in hopes to ignite that some passion for the stars in Dalton that she has.  I’m pretty sure it must have worked because he has asked several times when she is bringing her telescope back.  Even at four and a half years old, he patiently listened to her on how to use the telescope, some fun facts about the stars and the planets, a mini lesson on how to use a star map and has since asked me numerous questions….all to which I reply “Sounds like a good question to call and ask Aunt Jess.”

Looking at the stars.

It was pretty cloudy that night, so we didn’t get to see much.  But Dalton still thought it was pretty cool.  He is looking forward to going to Aunt Jess’s house soon and learning more about our amazing universe.

Enjoying our brand new library!

Our new library has been open for a few months now and the kids LOVE going to story time each week.  The children’s section is huge and closed off from the rest of the library which means they are free to run and squeal through the aisles of books.

Instrument day for the older kids.  Dalton was so excited that he got to play the drums.

Mrs. Claudia has done such a wonderful job with the story time program since taking over about a year ago.  Unfortunately, she is taking a full class load at one of the local colleges in the area next semester and will not be able to continue.  I am currently trying to convince my neighbor to take on the job for the next semester so story time does not have to stop.  She used to head up the children’s program at the library on base and would be a perfect fit for the job.  (Hint, Hint Jeri if you are reading this.)  We sure will miss Mrs. Claudia, but we are also so excited that she is fulfilling a lifelong goal of getting her degree even though it is later in life than she hoped.
