Giddy Up!

Seeing as how my last post was about cowboys riding longhorns, I though this was only appropriate to follow.

P1010058 This cute little pony was a gift for Addie from our neighbors, Brad and Jeri.  She loves the fact she can get off and on all by herself.  Thanks Brad and Jeri for the fun little pony!

Only in San Angelo….

We made a trip to San Angelo a few weeks ago to celebrate Addison’s first birthday with friends and family.  As we were driving to my mom’s house on Sunday morning, this is what we saw….

I mean, how else would the “Cowboy Church”  see fit to get your attention on Sunday morning than by having two cowboys sitting atop two saddled longhorns in the parking lot.  They were very friendly and even rode over to the car so Dalton and Addie could get a closer look.

Playing Catch-up

I have not been very good about keeping the blog updated this month.  We have been super busy with birthday parties, baseball and life that I am now playing catch up.  That said, be prepared for a lot of blogging coming your way.

Team In Training

image

Somewhere along the way in college I set a personal goal to run a marathon before I was 30.  Well, I’m not quite 30 yet but it is fast approaching, so I’ve decided that this is my year.  Last year, just 5 months after Addie was born, I ran the Rock N Roll San Antonio Half Marathon.  Yes, there was a little bit of back patting going on when I came across that finish line. ;)  It was a lot of fun but I trained on my own, ran on my own and finished on my own.  An out of town friend of mine was training for her very own first marathon at about the same time but was doing it with this group called Team in Training.  I followed her blog, visited her website often, offered encouraging words and a little monetary support (only $10 I think).  I was enjoying what I was doing, but she seemed to be LOVING what she was doing.  So this year, I decided to look into the group she had trained with, run with and finished with.  This past week I attended one of their informational meetings, took the plunge and signed up and am now well on my way to making a difference with my desire to run a marathon and change people’s lives.

Why I am telling you this though?  Well, that’s because I need your help.  Team in Training is a campaign organized by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.  We run because we can and many of our honored teammates can’t.  We run to raise money and awareness for research and grants that go directly to the families of people living with blood cancers.  My fundraising goal is $2000.  That may sound like a lot, but it’s really not.  I knew I was going to run the marathon no matter what and figured as long as I was doing it, I might as well do it for a good cause and not let the fundraising goal scare me away.  A goal of $2000 is just 200 people giving $10 each.  It may not sound like a lot from one individual, but it all adds up.  No gift is too small.  Remember I only donated $10 to my friends cause.

Scaredy Cat

…..errr, I mean dog.

It rained almost all day Monday, which means after Rusty (the dog) was good and soaked, he finally decided he wanted in the house.  That afternoon, we had a bit of thunder and lightening that sent Rusty running.  Addie had been asleep when Rusty finally decided to come in so she was not aware the dog was in the house.  Later that afternoon, Addie and I were in the bedroom folding laundry when Rusty let out a big yawn from the closet (his hiding place during storms).  She was sitting on the floor a few feet in front of the closet and was still unaware he was inside.  She slowly peeked into the closet only to see two glowing eyes staring back at her.  Needless to say, he scared the daylights out of her.  It took her a good twenty minutes to warm back up to him once he made it out of the closet.  It probably took her that long though because it took him twenty minutes to just make it out of the closet.  See the pictures of the guard on duty below.

I’m pretty sure if Addie hadn’t come along to run off the cat, he would still be locked in that closet today.  Never a dull moment in the Lacy Household with two kids, one dog, one cat, one fish, one frog and one snail.

Little League Night at the Missions

Last Friday night, Dalton’s T-Ball team (and the rest of the teams from Little League) headed out to watch the San Antonio Missions Baseball team.  He has been to several Aggie Baseball games in his lifetime, but none since he has started playing.  He thought it was pretty cool to watch the “big boys” play now, especially since he understands some of what is going on down on the field.

Dalton’s team down on the field before the game starts.

Watching the game with his team.

There is not much better than a hotdog at the ballpark.

Hoping to catch a t-shirt from the t-shirt gun.

P1010011-1

Running the bases after the fifth inning (or as close to the bases as they were allowed to run).

Blake, Addison and I were also at the game, but we have no record of this on film.  Hmmm, I’ll have to do a better job of taking pictures next time.

Just in case….

You didn’t believe me about Addie’s shoe fetish….here is more proof.

Look who is almost 1!

Addison’s first birthday is Friday.  This past weekend we had family pictures taken since we haven’t had any taken of the family since she was born (gasp!).  Here is a little preview, but I don’t want to spoil all the fun  for those who will be seeing the pictures this weekend at the party.
