Happy Valentine’s Day

We are usually not big Valentine’s Day people, but this year I thought I would try to do something a little special for the kids.  Over the weekend I tried out some of my shaped pancake molds.  They loved it so what better way to celebrate Valentines than with heart shaped pancakes!

I think they enjoyed coming down and having breakfast at such a festive table (at least festive for this house!).

Addie-isms

100_7006

I usually don’t post silly things the kids say because most of the time I’m pretty sure it’s one of those “guess you had to be there” moments.  These may fall into that category too but I’ve fallen behind on keeping up with the scrapbooks lately so I’m hoping that one day I’ll be able to use the blog to help me get caught up.

#1:  Today my pretty little girl accompanied me over to some friends house to deliver a meal and get my newborn fix for the next few months.  Upon leaving, she asked why we didn’t stay and play for a while.  I tried to explain to her that since this was the couple’s first baby and had just been born from his mommy’s tummy that they didn’t need a lot of toys yet.

Addie’s response:  “Did his mommy eat him?”

I love the simplicity of the three year old mind.

#2:  Addie was playing with a spinning top type toy in the kitchen after lunch while I was cleaning up.  She’s giving me a play by play of what the top is doing.  I, of course, was only half listening over the noise of doing the dishes and responded with the go to phrase of “oh, that’s cool”.

Addie’s response:  “No mom, it’s not cool.  This is serious!”

I’m not exactly sure what she was telling me but her response told me that I wasn’t listening as closely as I should have been.

#3:  This is actually one that happened a few days ago that Blake shared with me.  If you know me very well at all, you know I love to shop ahead and try to get good deals on things the kids will need in the future.  This means that Addie has about a years worth of shoes stored in the top cabinet of her dresser that she still needs to grow into wearing.  One morning while Blake was helping her get dressed and there was a comment made about her shoes getting too small, she shared a plan with him to solve that problem.

Addie’s response:  “That’s okay Daddy.  We can just put them in my cabinet.  That’s where Mommy puts shoes to make them bigger for me.”

I love my sweet little girl and how often she brings a good chuckle into our lives.

New Floors!

We have finally finished installing our new floors upstairs and on the stairs.  And when I say we I mean the nice man who worked for peanuts.  It all started when Belle decided to remove the carpet from one of our stairs.  That led to our plan of redoing only the stairs and upstairs game room…

The Game Room during and after…

After the game room turned out so nice we decided to expand our project to include all of the upstairs.

What I’ve been up to…

Since Addie and I have had to stay closer to home this week due to the flooring project, I’ve managed to find some time to work on some unfinished projects and crafts.  I pulled out the dusty sewing machine (EVERYTHING is covered in dust thanks to the floors) the other day and finally mastered the art of sewing on patches.  I’ve tried several times to do it by hand and they never seem to look quite right.  No matter how many pins I put in to hold the patch in place, I still end up with a crooked patch.

Dalton’s very crooked karate patch sewn on by hand.  At least with the way the shirt ties at an angle I don’t feel like you notice it as much.

100_7172

AWANA’s patches sewn on using the machine….so much easier and I didn’t even break a needle!   Unfortunately, I waited so long to sew the patches on that we have misplaced two of Addie’s little round patches.  Maybe if we beg they will give us new ones?

Since I already had the sewing machine out, I was able to work on a shirt for Addie for our next highly anticipated family vacation.

100_7176

The top bow will be attached to the shirt somehow to make Mickey into Minnie.  I’m thinking one of those little snap on buttons that are common on infant clothing so I can take it off for easier cleaning?  I’ll have to go peruse the craft store and see what I can find.   The bottom bow is for Addie.

And since I was in a hair bow making mood anyway, I thought I would try and use up some of my current supply of ribbon so I can have an excuse to buy more.

I’m putting a lot of my current stock on sale.   Bows pictured are $2.50 but I have others ranging from $1.00 to $2.50.  Let me know if you’d like to rummage through my stash.

Sneak Peek

Here is a sneak peek of our new floors upstairs:

We had a ton of tile leftover from tiling the downstairs almost three years ago, so we finally are getting around to tiling both upstairs bathrooms.   (I say we but I mean the nice man who is working tirelessly while I sit on the computer and work on crafts all day.  There is no use in cleaning right?)

We decided to put laminate wood floors in all the open areas upstairs and along the stairs thanks to Belle’s little fiasco a few weeks ago.

Once everything is done and it no longer looks like a bomb went off in our home, I’ll post pictures of the finished product.

Did I mention I don’t do well in a cluttered, messy house?!?  More to come due to that in my next post.

My not so tiny dancer…

I’m not sure where she gets it, but Addison is turning out to be 100% all girl.  She loves everything pink, purple, frilly and sparkly.  Yesterday she received a fun little surprise in the mail from Macca.  She loves it!

Well, off to the gym with my not so tiny dancer all dressed up in her precious new tutu and Dalton’s old black muddy cowboys boots.  Maybe she’s not 100% girl after all!

Have A Very Monkey Christmas

100_6757

100_6754

I made these cute little monkey bags to hold all the Christmas goodies for my “Monkey Class” at KDO.  I saw a similar pattern for the monkey face on a completely different Pinterest project idea which just goes to show you can find ANYTHING on Pinterest.
