A few weeks ago, Blake took the kids to one of the Lowe’s Build and Grow clinics while I was at work. They seemed to have a good time and are eager to go back. Here are a few pictures of our little craftsmen at work.

Halloween 2012
Halloween has come and gone and unfortunately we do not have many pictures to show for it. Our poor camera went missing for a few days. (I later found it in the side pocket of my lunch box which was currently in the frig…..oops!) We tend to use our poor little cameras up, partly because we don’t buy great cameras , partly because I mistreat them so as they are bouncing around in the bottom of one of my many bags (the reason we don’t buy great cameras) and mostly because I tend to take A LOT of pictures.
Here are the few pictures that did manage to get snapped:
Family picture at the SUMC Fall Festival: Woody, Shark Boy, Mermaid Girl and Jesse
Playing games and having fun at the fall festival
Book Character Parade at School
Yummy Mummy Hot Dogs for a Halloween Playgroup at Home
Pumpkin Decorating Contest at School: Dalton won 1st Prize for Silliest Pumpkin
Fall Festival at our church a few weekend before…

In The Kitchen: Baked Apple Pie
We took a break from our Thursday nights in the kitchen last week since we headed out of town the following day but we were back at it again this week. During school time, Addie and I have been trying to read some seasonal books. One of this weeks books was Amelia Bedelia’s First Apple Pie. Wouldn’t you know that they even included the recipe for the pie in the back of the book and we just happened to have everything on hand to make it. Who could pass up an opportunity such as that?!? Certainly not Addie!
Peeling the apples. Addie loves using the fun Pampered Chef tool! I have to admit, I have not regretted a single purchase I have made from Pampered Chef. If you don’t have an apple peeler, it’s a must have!
Apples peeled…check! And the inspiration for this week’s cooking adventure…
Mixing up the apple pie filling…
Rolling out the crust. This was our first homemade pie crust to make and it was quite simple to do. I don’t think I’ll ever buy a premade crust again.
Round 1 of pies…
Round 2 of pies…
Enjoying the fruits of our labor…
Aren’t the little pie cups topped with a scoop of ice cream just too cute!?!
School Time: Disney Countdown with a pattern
This week during school time, Addie and I have been working on extending patterns in math. She also quizzes me daily on how many more days until we head off to Walt Disney World for our big family vacation. We have a digital countdown on the computer, but it wasn’t quite doing the job. I remembered how much of a hit the chain ring countdown to both kids’ birthdays last year was, so we decided to do the same with with our vacation. Added bounus: what better way to incorporate patterns to reinforce our weekly math skill?
Getting set up…
Starting the AB pattern…
Extending the pattern…
Substituting every 10th strip for a yellow strip to reinforce counting by 10’s. We also used the second row of blue strips to mark our pattern core (the part that repeats over and over)…
Building the chain…
Our finished project, only 59 more days…
Each week we also have a Spanish unit. This week’s unit is on food. Addie is cutting out pictures of food from a magazine to glue onto “Mi Comida”.
Fall Photo Op…
Addie never misses a photo op, so when she walked into the gym one morning and saw the fall backdrop they had set up she just knew it was something she couldn’t pass up. The next morning, we made sure to pick out one of her Halloween dresses and headed to the gym with camera in hand.
It’s the little things in life that make her the happiest girl in the world!
Sierra Vista Fall Festival
This past weekend was a long weekend for the Lacy Household. Dalton was out of school and Blake had Monday off. Thanks Christopher Columbus! Rather than staying home and relaxing, we loaded everyone up in the car, dogs included, and headed to Angelo for the weekend. Saturday morning, Blake and his dad endured the cold and wet weather and headed out to “spray skeet”. (If our pastor Drew somehow reads our blog, he may get the joke! We love you Drew!) While they were bearing the elements in the pasture, the kids, Macca and I headed out to bear the elements at the fall festival at Macca’s church.
Digging for spare change…
Tee time…
Goin’ Fishin’…
Trying to hit the target…
Later that evening, we decided to stay in and play dominoes with Blake’s parents.
Dalton curled up with his puppies and watched a little TV….
….while Addie apparently got sleepy and put herself to bed. Things got a little quiet during our domino game. When we went to look for her, this is what we found. Don’t worry, you can still vote for us for parents of the year!
We enjoyed the rest of the weekend seeing and hanging out with family. The puppies also enjoyed their weekend. Here is Rudder catching up some much needed sleep once we returned home Monday evening.
