Our little girl…

P1010005-1 is a cutie and she knows it.

P1010011-1

These pictures are from over a month ago when she was still trying to get the hang of walking.  She has mastered the skill of walking now and can even run away from you backwards (usually with an evil grin or chuckle) when she is getting in trouble.

P1010016-1 Addie is a very happy baby.  She is almost always smiling.

P1010018

We couldn’t imagine life without her, but if my gut instincts are right….she is going to be a handful in the years to come.  She has definitely made life interesting around the Lacy Household.

Mr. Mischievous

Today, while Addie was napping, I was trying to get some much needed ironing done.  She woke up and I only had a few pieces left to do, so I left her in her crib while I finished up.  It took a little longer than I had planned, so she was starting to get pretty fussy.  All of the sudden, I heard laughter coming over the monitor.  Being that she had just been fussing, I peeked around the corner to find out what was going on.

This is what I found:

P1010033 Oh, sure, you might be thinking: “What a sweet, nice, caring big brother,” like I was when I first saw this.  That is until I ran back to get the camera, thinking I hadn’t been spotted so I could capture this priceless moment.  When I returned, Dalton was sitting innocently on the rocker, no bubbles in sight.  So I thought, “Was I mistaken?  Did I not see bubbles just a few seconds ago?”  When I asked him, he assured me he had not been blowing bubbles.  Thinking that my child is pretty honest, I figured I must have imagined the bubbles.  I went to leave the room to finish up the ironing, when he ran to the door to rescue the OPEN bubble jar from behind the door.  Needless to say, I talked to him about telling the truth and then let him blow bubbles for a few more minutes to keep Addie entertained while I finished up in the other room.  Well, and then after that I need the picture to go along with the story.  I guess we’ve never really talked to him about blowing bubbles in the house and just figured it was always understood that it was an outside toy.  Only four and too smart for his own good!

Conserving Water

Like most of Texas, we are on water restrictions, so what better way to “water” the yard than letting the kids play with the hose a few minutes one evening.  Hand watering is allowed any time, so this counts right?

P1010019As you can tell by the fact Addie is soaked from head to toe, Dalton takes no mercy on her even though she is only 1 year old.

P1010020

“Oh boy, Dalton put the hose down.  My turn!”

P1010022

Both kids had a blast taking turns spraying one another.  By some miracle, Mommy and Daddy managed to stay dry this time.

P1010030

Oh the carefree days of childhood.  I’m enjoying getting to share them with Dalton and Addie while they last.

Water Baby

Dalton has always loved the water, so it is no surprise when he begs to go play in the sprinkler/pool/mud puddle every day.  Addie, however, has found a new love when it comes to playing in the water.  I shouldn’t be surprised though, bath time is one of her favorite times of the day.

Here are the kids enjoying some water fun at a friend’s house.

P1010002

A pool all of her own.

P1010006

Hmmm, by the look on that face, I’m not so sure she is interested in sharing her little oasis.

P1010007

“If I don’t make eye contact, maybe she will go away.”

P1010009

Dalton loves this playscape.  The slide is almost twice as tall as the one we have in our backyard.

P1010011

Dalton and his friend “drinking” from the sprinklers.

P1010013

“Hey Mom, I’m not so sure about this.”

P1010014

“Okay, so maybe it’s not so bad after all.”

P1010016

Rub a dub dub, three boys in a pool, two trucks and a little sister (who thinks she is bigger than all of them).

Up and Running

Well, not quite running but definitely up and getting around.  Addie has been trying for almost a month now to learn how to get around on two feet rather than all fours.  She has decided that crawling across sidewalks and mulch at the park just isn’t as much fun as it sounds.  She is still pretty unstable on her feet, but she is very persistent and walking several steps at a time around the house.

P1010059-1 Easy does it.

P1010060-1

Getting the hang of it.

P1010061-1

Made it!  That is one proud little girl.

Baseball Boy

Swine flu diverted and baseball underway….Yay!

Dalton has really enjoyed playing T-Ball this year.  I’m pretty sure his team hasn’t won a game yet, but they have tons of fun and it’s all about the sno cones after the game anyway.  Dalton made it very apparent why he was there one afternoon while during the third inning he was singing (at the top of his lungs I might add), “I’m getting a sno cone, I’m getting a sno cone.”  He has learned all the basics, scored a few runs, loves to batt and has had an awesome group of coaches who patiently work with him and all the other little ones on the team.  We have the youngest team in the league by far.  Over half of the kids are still in car seats!  They go out there each time, play hard and most importantly have fun.

P1010068

Here’s our little man safe at first base.

P1010069

Here’s our little man playing catcher for the first time ever.  It wasn’t his favorite position to play, but I think that had something to do with the fact the shin guards are longer than his entire leg.

He also had a chance to play pitcher for one game.  Even though it is T-Ball, it is the most sought after position by all the members of the team.  He enjoyed it more than catcher, but I think his favorite position is digger, I mean outfield.

Swine Flu

If you did not know there was a town in Texas called Cibolo before, you’ve  probably at least heard of it now.  Well, that’s where we live and that’s where the first cases of Swine Flu turned up in Texas.  Everything, and I mean everything, came to a standstill in our little town of less than 20,000.  The library was closed, the parks were closed, baseball was cancelled, school children were loving their extra spring break.  Some neighbors down the road were able to keep their sense of humor through the whole thing though.  We were driving home one evening and this is what made us take another trip around the block just so I could take a picture:

P1010066

Just in case you can’t tell what’s going on here.  Yes, those pigs are wearing surgical masks.  Too funny!

P1010066

Another day at the zoo

We really love our zoo passes and try not to ever pass up a chance to go with friends.  Here is Dalton and some of his buddies enjoying the animals.

P1010059

The Jaguars are usually hiding up in one of the corners of their cage, so we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to get such a good shot.

P1010060

For whatever reason, Dalton just can’t seem to pass by this sign without having me take his picture….

P1010061 …. or in front of this waterfall.

One of these days it will be fun to make these pictures into a scrapbook page to see how he has changed over the years.
