Meeting Mr. Popper

Since I was out of town all last week with work and family matters, I though we should enjoy the day and go to Sea World and put those season passes to work.   When we got there Crystal surprised Dalton and I with a trip behind-the-scenes at the penguin exhibit.  She apparently knows that penguins are my favorite animals.

They have 4 different types of penguins in here and it’s a constant 38 degrees and always snowing.  The giant lights you can see above are to simulate the daylight Antarctica would receive right now.

I tried to bring one home but apparently they keep track of that kind of stuff.  It was pretty awesome though.

Home Improvement Projects…

….are never ending!

After three summers of dragging hoses and sprinklers around our obstacle ridden front and back yards, Blake and I decided it was finally time to call out the professionals and have a sprinkler system installed.  Well, they showed up this morning to get started and I keep having to reminding myself that this is supposed to make the yard look better.  However, I’m not sure my flowerbeds will ever be the same.  Looks like there will also be lots of rock-edging repair work in my future.  Who’s idea was it to use the rocks all over the yard anyway?!?

100_0549 View of the front yard from an upstairs window.  From this angle, it actually doesn’t look that bad.

100_0550 Side yard connecting the front lines to the back.  I do have to admit, they are going out of their way as to not disturb as many of the flowerbeds, pathways and rock areas as possible.

100_0547 Left side of the back yard.  Along the fence, where the landscape timbers are currently stacked, will be the future home of our garden.

100_0548 Right side of the back yard.  They are making pretty quick work out of the entire project.

Hopefully I’ll be able to post some pictures in a few weeks of a beautiful front and back yard!

The kids and I have been hard at work getting our seedlings planted for what we hope is a wonderful garden this season.  The guys who are installing our sprinkler system were working in the yard, so that meant we had to plant our seeds at the kitchen table.  Despite the fact that dirt and water were involved, we managed to keep the mud at a minimum.  Why is it that the projects that are always the most fun are always the messiest….paint, markers, play-dough, and anything involving dirt?

100_0528 Just getting started.

100_0531 Adding some dirt.

100_0533 Time for the seeds.

100_0535 Just a few drops of water.

Almost finished!

100_0536 All done.  Now it’s time to play in the dirt!

100_0532 Look at those messy hands!

100_0538 The fruits and veggies!

100_0539 The flowers!

I don’t have the greenest thumb in the world, but we’ll keep you posted as to how our crops do this year.  Never the less, I’m sure the kids and I will have many hours of dirt digging fun in our future.

Go Dalton Go!

Dalton seemed to enjoy soccer so much last fall, that we decided to sign him up again for the spring season.  He looks forward to game day and practices each week and has really seemed to improve his skill set over the past few months.  This past Saturday he assisted on a goal and almost scored two of his own.

100_0524  Here is our future soccer player cheering on her brother.  As you can see, I had to come straight from Tri practice to make the game and got to strut my stuff in my sexy bike shorts on the sidelines.  Don’t be jealous.  ;)

Spring has Sprung…

and the Lacy household has spent the last few weeks enjoying the outdoors, allergies and all.  We were planning to head down to New Braunfels this week for “playnastics”, so while we were there, we decided to take a picnic lunch and go check up on some of our favorite ducks.  I always enjoy picnic lunches ….we get to enjoy the great outdoors, the food always tastes better on a picnic than at the kitchen table, and most importantly my kitchen floor is clean for a few extra hours that day!

Later than evening, we took advantage of the longer daylight hours, enjoyed dinner on the back porch (yay for clean kitchen floors again!) and then helped the kids plant some flower seeds for our flower garden we are hoping to have by the end of the summer.

Playnastics

The kids and I joined some of the other moms from our playgroup for a morning of “playnastics” during open gym time at one of the local gymnastics clubs.  The kids had a great time and are already looking forward to running, jumping, climbing and tumbling there again soon.

(Most of the pictures are of Addie, mostly because I spent a lot of my time chasing her around the gym and partly because Dalton spent 90% of his time swinging on the rope swing into the giant foam block pit.)

More Birthday FUN!

This year Dalton’s birthday just happened to fall on a Tuesday. Since Tuesday nights are Family Night at one of the local museums, who just happen to be hosting a traveling dinosaur exhibit, we thought it was the perfect opportunity to head down to see it.  We were a little concerned the larger than life dinos might scare the kids, but boy were we wrong.  They both had a great time and Dalton has asked to go back almost every day since.

Blake couldn’t resist snapping this picture of Addie waving bye-bye to the T-Rex.

After the museum, we took Dalton to eat at one of his favorite pizza places in town.  Here are the kids enjoying some of the rides and games after dinner.

A boy , a dog and a boat…

What more do I need to say?  Dalton got a remote controlled toy boat for his birthday.  I’m not sure who had more fun….Dalton, Mr. Butters or the other boys watching from the sidelines?!?
